Darling dear, what have you done? Your hands and face are smeared with blood.

what are you like?

name: Rayna.
age: 17.
location: San Diego, California.
birthdate: 012088.
school: Samuel F.B. Morse High.

what do you like?

music: My musical taste is extremely eclectic. Some of my favorite bands/musicians are Bikini Kill/Le Tigre/Julie Ruin, Coldplay, Choking Victim/Leftover Crack, The Cranberries, Death Cab for Cutie, Metric, Radiohead, Tori Amos, etc. I've also started to take a real liking to The Decemberists, but I only know two of their songs. (If you have time and you like sappy indie music, download "The Engine Driver").
movies: But I'm a Cheerleader, I Shot Andy Warhol, Welcome To the Dollhouse, Moulin Rouge, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest,As Good As it Gets, Something's gotta Give. (In case you didn't notice the trend near the rear of the list, I'm a huge sucker for Jack Nicholson. I find him to be a big pimp.)
tv shows: Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Family Guy, Drawn Together, Reno 911, any Comedy Central roast, any non-fiction crime scene investigation documentary, etc. TV is the new opiate of the masses, Marx.
books: The Dharma Bums and On The Road//Jack Kerouac, The Tao of Pooh//Benjamin Hoff, Native Son//Richard Wright, The Bell Jar//Sylvia Plath, Memnoch The Devil//Anne Rice
video games: Any from the Mario series(except Mario Sunshine), Pacmania, Sonic The Hedgehog/Sonic and Tails, Legend of Zelda:The Ocarina of Time.

what do you do?

please post pictures of you
or things you have made/created

Partially because most of my creative channeling is on paper or cardboard and partially because my scanner is crap a la Sam's Club, I have a very limited online portfolio. I do have some stuff though. I do a little of almost everything.

(fyi, my artistic philosophy is that anyone can paint a beautiful painting, draw an awesome drawing, or take the perfect photograph with expensive equipment. I'd rather be a tad under "par" or less glossed over and "professional" and be recognized for the talent which flows from my own mind and finger tips rather than be praised for something I never could have done without excessive money and or supplies.

I shoot:

I do comics:

My mind is basically host to a plethora of disturbing yet comically relieving images...

And me, of course, well, I'm just a whacko. But an interesting, supremely cool one.

what do you think?

what issues do you have strong opinions on? Personally, my strongest opinions revolve around public schools and their funding. I'm a senior this year and for four years I have felt a constant fear that any enriching classes I might now be able to take will soon we unavailable. I went to a middle school where every student was forced to take a two-hour literary block every day, in place of an elective. This obviously hindered my intellectual growth quite a bit. When I reached 10th grade, I happened to have the best history teacher in the world, and ever since the first day of sophmore year he has filled my mind with sensitivity to issues and reasonable knowledge. He has also made aware to us students who are lucky enough to have him everything that goes on during faculty/administration meetings. Basically, the top dogs at my school don't give a rat's ass about the AP program or any of the students who so willingly put themself through the vigorous college-level goodness that is AP. This angers me, because I feel that the limited funding that we do have is being squandered on 12 unnesessary administrative officials. Basically, I believe that the future of America is dismal, because modern students with the natural drive to excell and get things rolling are sort of being forced to take average, and often below average(my middle school lit-bock, for example) classes. It seems as if the public school system is using funding deficits to justify it's lowering of the academic bar.
please explain. Oh, well, I already did, so har.
